Your same-day report
Your WDI report, diagram and photos
The official Texas Wood Destroying Insect report is the starting point. My addendum adds the descriptions, photographs and location details that help you use it.
Actual diagram from the redacted sample report. Findings and locations vary by property.
Open diagram at full size ↗Official findings and a color-coded diagram
The report records inspection findings. The diagram identifies the locations and types of observed conducive conditions and infestations when present.
Photos that connect to the diagram
My addendum lists observed conducive conditions with specific descriptions and locations. Captioned photos and arrows, when helpful, let you match what you see to where it was found.
Access limitations and useful next steps
Obstructions and inaccessible areas are documented, with selected photos when they help explain the limitation. Recommendations make the next steps clear.
What’s included in your termite / WDI inspection
WDI means wood-destroying insect. The inspection covers visible evidence of termites and other wood-destroying insects, such as carpenter ants and wood-boring beetles.
- Active or previous infestation. Visible insects, mud or shelter tubes, and damage to wood components are evaluated and documented. The report distinguishes active infestation from evidence of previous activity.
- Evidence of previous treatment. Visible treatment signs, such as a treatment notice, drill holes or bait stations, can provide context. They do not establish that a previous treatment was complete or effective.
- Conditions that increase risk. Wood-to-soil contact, excessive moisture, wood rot, high soil levels, heavy foliage and similar conditions may support infestation. These are called “conducive conditions.” Their presence does not establish an active infestation.
- Areas I could not fully see. Stored belongings, insulation, enclosed spaces and other obstructions can limit the inspection. The report explains those limitations.
Shelter tubes are one type of visible evidence evaluated during the inspection.

What areas are inspected?
I inspect visible, accessible areas of the home, including the exterior, foundation, interior, attic and crawlspace where safe access and conditions permit.
The primary dwelling is included. Detached garages and outbuildings are not included unless arranged beforehand, for an additional fee.
Help make the home accessible
When practical, arrange clear access to attic and crawlspace openings and move stored belongings away from areas that need inspection. Let me know about locked, sealed or blocked access points before the appointment.
This is a visual inspection of accessible areas at the time of the visit. Concealed insects or damage may not be visible. It is not a structural damage assessment, a guarantee that the home is insect-free, or a treatment warranty.
Termite / WDI inspection questions
Is a termite inspection included in my home inspection?
No. A WDI inspection is a separate requested service. Add it when booking so the scope and fee are clear before the visit. See what the home inspection includes.
What happens if you find an active infestation?
I tell you where I found it, document the finding and its location in the report, and recommend corrective treatment. Where further evaluation of damage is needed, I recommend an appropriate qualified professional.
Do conducive conditions mean my home has termites?
No. They are conditions that can increase the risk of infestation. I document them and recommend correcting them. When treatment is warranted, I explain the recommended next steps.
Are termites a concern in Austin and Central Texas?
Termites are present in the area, but that does not mean every home is infested. Moisture and wood-to-soil contact are examples of conditions worth addressing. An inspection helps distinguish visible infestation evidence from conditions that can increase risk.
When will I receive my report?
The same day as the inspection. You receive the official Texas WDI report, a structure diagram and my detailed addendum with observed conditions, locations, photographs, access limitations and recommendations.
